Our Team
-
Shaun O'Hagan - Co-Chair
Hi, I’m Shaun, an ST6 paediatric trainee sub-specialising in infectious disease. Moving into the role of co-chair, I’m enthusiastic about championing trainee-led education, QI and research projects across Northern Ireland. As our network expands, I’m also eager to encourage junior trainees to become more involved and have their important voice heard!
-
Kate Mullan - Co-Chair
Hi, I’m Kate, a ST2 paediatric trainee and NI PEAR’s new Lead for Paediatric Guideline Development. Trainees are in a strong position to develop regional guidelines to ensure all children across Northern Ireland receive the highest level of care. I’m excited to open opportunities for trainees at all levels of training to get involved in this process!
-
Dr Stephen Mullen - NI PEAR Lead Consultant Ambassador
I am PEM consultant working in Belfast with a passion for teaching and QI. I am the eternal plate spinner- father of 3, husband to an infinitely more intelligent radiologist, full time clinician, wannabe triathlete and occasional researcher.
-
Caitlin McKeone - Lead for Neonatal Guidelines
Hi I'm Caitlin, an ST3 Paediatric Trainee and enthusiastic new member of the NIPEAR team. Originally from London, I studied at Queen's University Belfast (QUB), fell in love with Northern Ireland and am excited to work on developing new guidelines that can be used throughout the region
-
Jonny McDowell - Lead for IT
Hey, I'm Jonny - an ST4 trainee with an interest in ICU, trying to put my love of computers and time 'wasted' playing video games to better use as the NI PEAR's IT lead. Any issues or suggestions for the website, let us know!
-
Michael Coffey - IT and Website Development
Hi, I'm Michael, an ST5 paediatric trainee with an interest in PICU. Having been (correctly) described as ‘someone who seems like they would be a fan of the Lord of the Rings' I am looking forward to putting my geeky skills to good use with NI PEAR in my with IT and website development.
-
Amy Sweeney - Senior Lead for Education
I’m Amy Sweeney, ST7, developing an interest in children’s palliative care and NI PEAR senior lead for education. Approaching the end of training, I’m passionate about the importance of delivering education, both informally and formally and am delighted to be part of the NI Pear family. Having organised and delivered teaching through a range of platforms, I hope to use this forum to both provide and highlight educational opportunities in NI.
-
Hannah Norman Bruce - Research Lead
I am an ST7 paediatric trainee. Having started my training in Sussex I am now based in NI with an interest in respiratory medicine and research. I'm currently undertaking a PhD at Queen’s University Belfast which involves running the PRECISE study. @precisestudyNI
Having struggled to access clinical research experience in my own training I am passionate about increasing the accessibility of academic opportunities for all trainees and integrating this into our practice and careers. I hope to do this as NIPEAR Research lead. -
Beth Gilliland - Communication and Promotions
My name’s Beth and I’m currently an ST1 in paediatrics. I’m working in RBHSC and will then be moving to the Ulster. I am the communication and promotions lead for NI PEAR this year and I’m looking forward to encouraging more trainees to get involved in research and planning different events.
-
Scott Kendall - Research Co-Lead
I am a first year PHD student at Queen’s doing a project in Paediatric Cardiology, which if you had asked me a year, ago would be a surprise to me! I had very limited exposure to research as a student. Over the past year of doing an ACF I have had a fantastic experience and am keen to help other trainees get involved in research.
-
Mike Roberts - Junior Representative
I am one of Paediatric ST1s. Originally from London, I came to NI to study Medicine as grad at QUB, where I met my wife. When not at work, I can be found capitulating to my coffee addiction, consuming all things rugby and procrastinating about attending the gym.
With thanks to our amazing previous committee members
